In my past two blog posts I discussed the ideas from two articles. “Failure is not an Option" and “3 Ways to Speak English". Both these articles convey the themes of personal growth and success, but they approach these ideas through different ways. One is focused on building a specific mindset while the other is focused on communication skills. Both of these discuss different skills that are essential in reaching success.

In the first article “Failure is Not an Option” the main idea is determination and not giving up. In this article, the definition of success is based on each person's refusal to accept failure. This article goes on to explain that failure should be viewed as a learning opportunity, a chance to grow from your mistakes. The tone is very motivational and encouraging to the reader to push beyond whatever challenges they are currently facing.  The main focus of this article is to show the importance of self confidence, mental strength, and create a stronger drive for achievement.

Moving on to the second article “3 ways to Speak English”, this focuses more on practical approaches rather than just focusing on mindset only. It reviews the three distinct methods/ styles of speaking English. This article shows the importance of language shifting in communication based on its social setting. An example of this is when being in a professional setting you speak with a more formal tone or when you are with your friends you are more loose and casual. This article emphasizes that this should be seen as a skill for success in communication.

Looking past their differences, both these articles share the common goal of helping the individual person improve themselves and reach success. Both recognize that growth takes effort to overcome any obstacles in the way. They both emphasize that success is not accidental but the result of our conscious decisions to improve.

But a key difference between these two articles is their focus. “Failure is not an option” relies on an internal mindset while “3 Ways to Speak English” focuses on external behavior. Although they’re both just as strong there are different ways to improve in each state.
